My Chemical Romance announces break-up

US rockers My Chemical Romance have announced that they are splitting up after remaining together for 12 years.

The New Jersey group was formed in 2001 and has released four albums together.

"Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing," the BBC quoted the band as saying on their website.

"We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible."

"We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure," the band said.

Frontman Gerard Way tweeted "beyond any sadness, what I feel the most is pride."

The band's 2005 record 'The Black Parade' peaked at number two in the UK album chart and the accompanying track 'Welcome to the Black Parade' made it to number one in the singles chart. (Source)

Jon Bon Jovi opens up about daughter's heroin overdose

Jon Bon Jovi termed the call that informed him about his daughter Stephanie Bongiovi's heroin overdose the "worst phone call ever."

In an interview with Katie Couric on "Katie" last Friday, the 51-year-old singer explained that until that night, he was unaware of his daughter's drug use and the scare his family faced served as a wake up call for him, the Huffington Post reported.

He said that the problem is much more prevalent than he knows.

"I cannot get over how many people I've met that said 'my son' or 'my daughter' ... There is a lot of pressure on kids these days," he said.

Bon Jovi quickly added that now his 19-year-old daughter is doing a lot better since her hospitalization.

He said that Bongiovi is doing great and she appreciated everyone's thoughts and prayers, adding that he is just blessed that she is healthy.

Back in November 2012, cops were called to Bongiovi's dorm room at the upstate New York liberal arts college she attended, after she was found unresponsive.

Emergency services found her alive, and the officers, who were sent to the dorm found a small amount of heroin. (Source)

Russell Brand appeals to fans to help sick teenager

British comedian Russell Brand took to Twitter to help a young girl, Aneesa Hussain, who is suffering from a particular kind of blood cancer.

Brand met Hussain, 17, at the Teenage Cancer Trust fundraising event here March 20.

The teenager is suffering from aplastic anaemia and is finding it difficult to find a bone marrow donor as only six percent of those on the registry match her Asian heritage, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Brand shared with his followers a link to the teenager's campaign page, writing, "My friend... Aneesa needs a bone marrow match. Help us to find one... She is beautiful." (Source)

Richard Attenborough in care home

British actor-filmmaker Richard Attenborough, who is battling ill health, has been moved into a care home here.

The 89-year-old is wheelchair-bound after a 2008 fall, and in 2012, he sold off the $18.4 million home he shared here with his wife Sheila Sim after deciding it was not "practical" to keep the mansion.

Sim was moved to a care home after she diagnosed with senile dementia, and now Attenborough has joined her in the facility, reports contactmusic.com.

"The family home has been sold and he has been at a care home with his wife since then," their son Michael told Britain's Sunday Mirror. (Source)

Stephen Fry under treatment for spider bite

British actor Stephen Fry has sought medical attention for a spider bite.

The actor sustained the injury earlier this week, and he is now on a 10-day course of antibiotics to treat it, reports contactmusic.com.

In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page before his doctor's appointment, Fry wrote, "Bite mark now hot and huge. Shall have my spider bite looked at it (in) case it's a Brown Recluse spider and I get necrosis and ulceration, eew."

Post the consultation with the doctor, he wrote: "Heavens: antihistamine cream, hydrocortisone and a ten day course of antibiotics - all for a little nip from an incy wincy spider." (Source)

Tilda Swinton sleeps in glass box at NYC museum

Tilda Swinton has taken up residence at New York City's Museum of Modern Art, where she is spending her days sleeping in a glass box as part of a surprise performance art installation.

A source told Gothamist that "The Maybe," as it is called, will be taking place on random days throughout the rest of the month and even the museum staff doesn't know when the 'Moonrise Kingdom' actress will show up, Us magazine reported.

The 52-year-old Oscar winner will be spending the whole day snoozing in her glass container, which is equipped with just a mattress, linens, and a jug of water, whenever she appears.

Swinton, who hails from Scotland, conceived the installation nearly two decades ago and performed it for the first time in 1995 at London's Serpentine Gallery. She did a second showing in Rome a year later. (Source)
