A popular dating website for
cheaters has claimed that its membership registration spiked this week
following Sunday's parody of the dating site on the season finale of 'The
Simpsons.'
The founder of
Ashleymadison.com said new registrations surged a whopping 230 percent this
week after millions watched how a frustrated Marge Simpson stumbled onto an
Ashley Madison-type website and then toyed with the idea of pursuing an
extramarital affair on the eve of her wedding anniversary.
Noel Biderman told the New
York Daily News from Las Vegas - where he was celebrating his 10th wedding
anniversary, that Ashley Madison officials noticed a sudden spike in Web
traffic within minutes of Marge logging onto "Sassymadison.com."
"When we see an anomalous
spike we try and identify where it came from: was it marketing, media coverage
or something else? We looked at what was on TV at that moment and it seemed to
us to be very attributable to "The Simpsons,'" he said.
Biderman added that Ashley
Madison officials also noticed an increase in Google searches for the site
around the same time. (Source)
